Notes about log paper:
EDG log papers are custom manufactured to our specifications to provide you with the best archival printed log possible at the best price. They are NOT the same paper products that are sold by office supply stores.
EDG log papers are 24-lb., high quality, bond with unique perforations at the folds. The EDG Laser Well Log Printer stops the paper with the fold exactly at the tear-off bar, making extraction from the printer neat and clean, but the custom hard-perf at the fold is difficult to tear in normal use. Office supply papers in contrast are light weight and designed to easily part at the folds.
The EDG Laser Well Log Printer maintains the highest possible accuracy in log depth scaling by using pin-feed paper. Six-inch wide Half-Scale, Full-Scale and Letter-Scale papers come with microperf vertical perforations to remove the pin-feed margins. Standard 5.5-inch wide Half-Scale paper may be ordered with microperf vertical perforations or without. Many of our users choose NOT to have the margin tear off perforations. Instead they use paper cutters to remove unwanted margins, cutting to widths appropriate for the logs being printed (scanned images of older logs in particular are often narrower than modern logs). Custom cutting also allows use of paper right up to the pin-feed holes, sometimes beneficial for logs that have wandered from side to side during a scan. Those printing high volumes of logs usually farm the cutting out to print and copy shops, which have cutters that can cut stacks several inches thick with each stroke, or they acquire such a cutter for themselves.
